Snowboarder dies at PCMR

PARK CITY, Utah. — An 18-year-old man from Lexington, Kentucky died yesterday when he apparently lost control, left a beginner run, and hit a tree near Jonesy’s. Park City Police said the man’s name would not be released until his family had been notified.

A witness saw the accident occur and alerted ski patrol, who attempted life-saving measures. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Airmed, according to a PCMR spokeswoman. The witness said the man was wearing a helmet and the run was open and clear. His snowboard was broken in the accident.

“Park City Mountain, Park City Mountain Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” said Mike Goar, vice president, and chief operating officer at Park City Mountain.

This is a developing story.
