Fatal crash near Oakley

OAKLEY, Utah. — On Sunday, March 28th, at approximately 1:24 AM, Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene of a single-car crash on SR 32 at the intersection with New Lane. A Subaru Legacy had run off the roadway and struck an embankment. The car became airborne and struck a large power pole before overturning and coming to rest off the roadway.

The occupant was not wearing a seatbelt, and ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver impairment is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.

The driver has been identified as Peter E Schrumpf, 58, from Oakley, UT.
