UAC Video Reports on Recent Avalanches
With the recent avalanche activity in the Utah mountains, the Utah Avalanche Center (UAC) continues to support the community with education, information, predictions, forecasting, and search and rescue support. Below are two accounts of avalanche activity within the past week.
In the video below, there is a recap about a lucky snowmobiler who was completely buried under three feet of snow by a large avalanche and rescued by his riding partners. The Franklin Basin avalanche occurred Friday, January 8th, 2021, in Steep Hollow. Here is the story from us and Cache Valley locals, Jon, Jonny, and Codie.
Also, on January 8, 2021, at a separate location, a 31-year-old male snowboarder from Clinton, Utah, was killed in an avalanche in Dutch Draw area off of Silver Peak (the full report is here):
