Rob’s Trail Closed For Winter, Reopens For Public Use May 15th

PARK CITY, Utah. — Rob’s Trail, the popular hiking spot located in the Sun Peak neighborhood West of Hwy. 224, is closed for the winter because part of the trail lies on property owned by Vail Resorts. According to Melissa O’Brien, Interim Director of the Snyderville Basin Recreation District, to further discourage recreation on this trail during the winter months, the trailhead area will not be plowed.

“Maintaining this parking area attracts users to an area that is essentially closed in the winter and creates an enforcement and congestion challenge,” O’Brien said. In addition, recreators who disregard the closure and park at the trailhead will be ticketed.

Further, O’Brien shared that Basin Recreation has been in conversation with the area’s easement holders about possible year-round use of the area, but their priority is to work together to maintain their existing agreements before enacting any change.

Rob’s Trail will reopen to the public on May 15th, 2021.
