SNAPPED: PCSC Arts Council celebrates its 40th anniversary

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City – Summit County Arts Council has reached another milestone. It has existed for 40 years. To celebrate, guests were invited to show up dressed for an 80s Prom Party.
The event was a fundraiser combined with a celebration. Guests were invited to have a sketch of themselves drawn free of charge, there was a silent auction of paintings being created during the party, trivia giveaways, and an opportunity drawing. The Arts Council’s favorite food truck from the Latino Festival provided free tacos during the event and Top Shelf sold beverages with the bartenders donating their time.
The MacQuoid family donated original watercolors and one print by Judy Taylor, an artist prolific in the 80s, whose husband Hal Taylor was Park City’s mayor at the time. Ann MacQuoid, a big supporter of the arts, passed away earlier this year. All proceeds from these paintings went to the PCSC Arts Council. Since the watercolors were all framed in the 80s, Peak Art & Frame donated $100 of framing with the sale of each painting to update the frames.
The party was held at the Create PC space, which has 10 artist studios on the second floor and an art gallery on the first floor. Create PC provides local Summit County artists with space to interact with other artists and expand their skills along with gallery space to show off their work to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday each week. Shows are held almost continuously three times per year with the next show opening Nov. 20.
