NGB leaders voted on McGuire’s appointment at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Assembly. He will begin his term Jan. 1, 2027.

A retired athlete of the USA Bobsled National Team from the early 2000’s, McGuire competed in World Cups and World Championships as a frequent brakeman for driver Steven Holcomb, an Olympian from Park City. McGuire’s current work with USA Bobsled/Skeleton is on track to continue at least through the 2030 Winter Olympics/Paralympics, as he also serves on the Utah 2034 Sports & Venue Committee.

USA Bobsled/Skeleton is coming off a medal-winning Games last season under McGuire’s guidance.

“This is an important moment for Team USA,” said McGuire. “With LA28 approaching and the Games returning to Utah in 2034, the decisions we make over the next several years will reach well beyond the events themselves. We have an opportunity to strengthen Team USA, create meaningful opportunities for athletes and NGBs, grow our sports, and position the movement for long-term success.”

McGuire brings more than 20 years of experience across the Olympic and Paralympic movement to the board. He has worked at USA Track & Field, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, and USA Bobsled/Skeleton, giving him firsthand involvement with large and small NGBs, summer and winter sports, and NCAA and non-NCAA sports. He served as an Athlete Advisory Council representative, and, in leadership roles, supported seven Olympic and Paralympic Games and four Pan American Games.
