Guardsman Pass, Alpine Loop to close for winter

PARK CITY, Utah — Guardsman Pass, which connects Big Cottonwood Canyon with Park City and the Heber Valley, will close for the winter season at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, as winter weather moves into the Wasatch Back. The Alpine Loop, which connects Provo Canyon to American Fork Canyon will follow its lead, closing on Monday, Nov. 2.
These seasonal roads do not receive winter plowing, according to Utah Department of Transportation. Recent snowfall and additional winter weather in the forecast prompted the closures.
