Christian Center of Park City streamlines volunteer sign-up process

PARK CITY, Utah — The Christian Center of Park City, and it’s sister facility in Heber City, have updated their online volunteer form, streamlining the process to allow for locals and visitors to engage in social services throughout the community with one click.

The first step to volunteering is to fill out this online application form to let volunteer coordinators know what you’re interested in and when you’re available. It may take one or two business days for applicants to hear back from coordinators, according to the organization.

CCPC relies on volunteers to help meet people at their point of need.

“A mom who knew I volunteered for Snacks In Backpacks came up to me and said I was ‘the angel who kept her two daughters fed on the weekends,'” Susan Gleich told TownLift. “And that moment of gratitude is what motivated me to continue volunteering for that program for the next ten years.” That feeling also inspired Gleich’s group of friends to sign up and volunteer.

Food Pickups

If you are a morning person who can do a little heavy lifting, food pickup volunteers meet the staff at 7 am, then drive with them to Park City area grocery stores to collect food donations, and then unload at the CCPC Pantry. The shift is usually finished by 10 am.

Food Pantry Volunteers

Pantry volunteers assist in unloading, sorting, and organizing food donations. Other activities include recycling, cleaning, and guest services. Shifts are 9:30 am – 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday (times can be flexible).

Operation Hope

The Operation Hope program is designed to provide toys for every child in need in Summit County during the December holidays. For the past 17 years, CCPC has provided a toy store where parents can come and select gifts and toys for their children at no cost.

Food Farmacy

Based on the belief that food is medicine, the Peoples Health Clinic prescribes produce to patients who would benefit from it. The community gardens supply the organic produce, which CCPC distributes. Any surplus is shared at the Mobile Food Pantry, People’s Health Clinic, and the CCPC Pantry.

Park City, Heber, and outlet mall stores

The Park City Boutique/Thrift stores, Heber Valley Thrift, and the outlet mall stores are looking for volunteers to help organize, sort, provide customer service, and keep the stores looking great. Shifts are available throughout the week, and are limited to two hours.

Snacks In Backpacks

Snacks in Backpacks ensures food-insecure students are well fed through the weekend when they are not receiving breakfast and lunch at school. Snack bags are discreetly distributed by teachers and school counselors on Fridays and contain easy-to-prepare items like microwave mac-n-cheese, oatmeal, and other kid-friendly foods. Volunteers help pack and organize snack bags.

There are also Special Volunteer Roles always available. Do you have unique skills or ideas you’ve come up with? Whether it’s reporting, admin work, receptionist work, grant writing, social media, graphic design, professional expertise, creative abilities, or something else, email volunteer@ccofpc.org to let them know how you’d like to make a difference at CCPC and help support their mission.
