PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Library is calling for entries to its rotating art exhibit program, with submissions open Aug. 1 through Oct. 31.
The library hosts four exhibits a year, each running about three months. Most shows are displayed on the second floor in the adult fiction area and the Reading Room, and the community can view them during the library’s operating hours. Information on the current exhibit is available on the library’s events calendar.
A committee selects exhibits based on the needs and interests of the community, the variety of shows offered, the artistic quality of the work and how well the format suits the library’s physical space, according to library staff. The library accepts submissions featuring a single medium or a variety of two-dimensional mediums, and shows can feature one artist or a group of artists. Artwork can be submitted solely for exhibition or for sale. At this time, the library can accommodate only two-dimensional artwork.
Both beginning and professional artists are encouraged to apply.
Application requirements
All submissions must include an artist portfolio and a completed online art exhibit application form. The portfolio should include 10 to 20 images of work that can be exhibited as a unit. Images should be well lit and photographed against a neutral background, and each image description should note the piece’s dimensions. Artists may submit only one application per call for entries period.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection within six weeks of the submission deadline.
If a submission is accepted
Artwork may be displayed for up to three months, with exhibition periods that typically align with the seasons of summer, fall, winter and spring. All artwork remains on display for the full run of the show.
Before the exhibit opens, the artist will meet with a library representative to view the exhibit space, ask questions, review exhibit policies and procedures, and sign an exhibition agreement contract.
