Overnight I-80 ramp closures planned near East Canyon

PARLEYS CANYON, Utah — Drivers traveling through Parleys Canyon and the East Canyon area should plan for two upcoming overnight closures of the eastbound I-80 on-ramp at Exit 134.
The on-ramp from State Route 65 at East Canyon will close from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, and Friday, Sept. 18, while crews complete utility work, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
Drivers traveling down SR-65 who want to access eastbound I-80 will need to continue west on I-80 to Exit 132 at 1320 South, then turn around to head east.
UDOT is advising drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the closures.
The ramp closures are part of a larger UDOT project improving drainage infrastructure along I-80 between Parleys Canyon and Emory. The project includes rehabilitation of about 50 miles of culverts designed to improve drainage and protect the interstate from water-related damage.
Work is expected to continue through fall 2026. Shoulder closures are expected but no I-80 lane closures are anticipated as part of the drainage work.
Schedules are subject to change based on weather and construction conditions. UDOT also recommends checking its traffic website for current road conditions and construction updates.
