5-Acre Site decision nears as Planning Commission eyes October target

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Planning Commission will continue reviewing the proposed redevelopment of the city-owned Five-Acre Site at Bonanza Drive and Kearns Boulevard Wednesday, Aug. 26, with revised components addressing building height and materials, parking, and traffic.

The commission will hold a public hearing on the updated proposal but will not take final action Wednesday.

Following Wednesday’s hearing, the commission is scheduled to hold a work session Sept. 9 to discuss updates to the project submittal.

An Oct. 14 public hearing is then scheduled for additional project review and possible final action. Additional meetings may be scheduled at the commission’s discretion.

The Park City Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, August 26, at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. The commission will conduct a public hearing as part of Wednesday’s proceedings.

The project, proposed by Brinshore Development, calls for 106 rental housing units, including 88 affordable units, along with commercial, arts, and public spaces. The Planning Commission has been reviewing the project’s subdivision, master planned development, and conditional use permit applications.

Park City owns the roughly five-acre collection of parcels and lots and has been working for years to redevelop the property.

The current proposal includes seven buildings totaling about 185,500 square feet, with more than 30,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, café, and nonprofit arts space, a childcare center, underground parking with 280 spaces, community green spaces and plazas, an amphitheater, playground, arts pavilion, public art, and multi-use pathways.
