Jordanelle Ridge invites community to explore 70-mile trail network at free event

HEBER CITY, Utah — Jordanelle Ridge will host a free community trail event Sept. 12, offering guided hikes, e-bike rides and trail education across its growing recreation network near Jordanelle Reservoir.

The “Hit the Trails” event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jordanelle Ridge Trailhead on Coyote Canyon Parkway in Heber City.

Participants can join guided Class 1 e-bike rides led by White Pine Touring or explore the area on foot. Representatives from the Wasatch Trails Foundation will also be on hand to discuss trail history, safety, stewardship and ongoing recreation efforts in the area.

The Jordanelle Ridge Trail System now includes more than 70 miles of cross-country trails across roughly 10,000 acres. The network also includes two skills parks, seven downhill mountain bike trails and more than five miles of trails added this year, according to Jordanelle Ridge.

The trail system is open to hikers, mountain bikers and trail runners during warmer months and supports fat biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter.

“The Jordanelle Ridge Trail System has grown into something that truly offers an experience for everyone,” trail builder and land manager Ken McCarthy said in a statement. “Whether you’re new to the trails or an experienced rider, this is an opportunity to explore the network, enjoy the incredible scenery and learn how we can all help care for these trails so future generations can enjoy them too.”

Refreshments will be available during the event, and attendees can enter to win tickets to the FOX US Open of Mountain Biking at Deer Valley.

The event is free, but advance registration is encouraged.
