Police Log: Anderson Pass rescue, multiple DUI arrests, and counterfeit cash

Search and Rescue crews rescued a stranded hiker from Anderson Pass this week after the individual became trapped in a rockslide area and was separated from their group. A Department of Public Safety helicopter hoisted the hiker to safety.

Elsewhere, deputies investigated multiple DUI cases across Summit County, including a rollover crash involving an allegedly intoxicated driver and another motorist who admitted he was drunk during a traffic stop. Park City police also responded to traffic concerns tied to ongoing construction, reports of counterfeit $20 bills at a roadside fruit stand, and several disturbances involving intoxicated individuals.

Monday, July 13

Incident: Livestock problem
Five loose sheep were reported grazing near the river at the bottom of Park City Hill along Kearns Boulevard.

Incident: Utility water
A caller reported water had been spewing from a vacant home on Hidden Oaks Lane for about 24 hours.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A shopping cart filled with bags bearing Park City Police tags was reported at a bus stop near Park Avenue and SR-224.

Incident: Juvenile stop
Two juveniles riding an e-bike without helmets were stopped on Iron Horse Drive.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A resident reported people drinking and talking loudly outside an apartment on Park Avenue late at night, saying the activity made them feel unsafe while home with a child.

Incident: Disturbing the peace/fight
Deputies responded to a reported fight involving as many as 18 people at Silverado Lodge. By the time deputies arrived, only six people remained, and no arrests were made because those involved declined to cooperate. Management requested everyone leave the property.

Tuesday, July 14

Incident: Disturbing the peace
Police responded to a physical and verbal fight at a lodging property on Canyons Resort Drive after staff made repeated requests for guests to quiet down.

Incident: Property damage
A caller reported Geneva Rock cement trucks were damaging Lucky John Drive by raising their tag axles while driving. A supervisor reportedly agreed repairs would be made.

Incident: Keep the peace
Police responded to a neighborhood dispute on Woodside Avenue after a caller reported being repeatedly harassed by a neighbor while working.

Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR rescued a stranded hiker near Anderson Pass after the individual became trapped in a rockslide and separated from their group. A DPS helicopter hoisted the hiker to safety.

Wednesday, July 15

Incident: Intoxication
Police responded to reports of an intoxicated person near Round Valley Drive carrying a beer and causing a disturbance near a dog park.

A resident reported an off-leash dog at City Park that nearly attacked another dog.

A caller reported a dark gray Dodge Ram tailgating and nearly causing a crash on SR-248.

Incident: Traffic hazard
Debris, including what appeared to be a mini refrigerator, was reported blocking lanes on SR-248.

Thursday, July 16

Incident: Traffic complaint
A caller reported traffic backups and unsafe passing around rerouted dump trucks on Kearns Boulevard, describing the situation as “total chaos.”

Incident: Wildlife problem
A young buck who had been hit by a car near Park Avenue was reported to police.

Incident: Reckless driving
A caller reported an aggressive RV driver cutting people off and yelling near Park Avenue.

Incident: Unwanted person
A man was reported drinking alcohol from a Hydro Flask inside the Old Town Transit Center.

Incident: Assault
Deputies arrested a man on suspicion of simple assault and intoxication after he allegedly shoved another person at Sundial Lodge.

Incident: DUI
A driver involved in a rollover crash on Lambert Lane was arrested after deputies determined the driver was heavily intoxicated.

Deputies arrested another driver for DUI after locating a vehicle reportedly unable to maintain its lane on the Kimball Junction off-ramp.

Friday, July 17

Incident: Suspicious activity
A fruit stand operator near Squatters reported someone attempted to pay with counterfeit $20 bills.

Park City Police and Fire Department responded to Swede Alley as flood waters and mud rushed down the road.

Incident: Unwanted person
Two men were reported causing a disturbance and frightening people at the Old Town Transit Center.

A woman using a fake ID reportedly became aggressive with security outside a Park City bar.

Several juveniles were reported skateboarding inside the construction zone at the new Park City High School athletic fields.

A Jeep struck and killed a deer on SR-224 near Holiday Ranch Loop. No injuries were reported.

Sunday, July 19

Incident: Welfare check
Police received reports of a person stumbling into traffic near Marsac Avenue around 2 a.m.

Incident: Theft
A vendor setting up for Park Silly Market reported some of his items had been stolen near the Park Station roundabout.

Incident: Reckless driving
A caller reported an apparently intoxicated man repeatedly driving a golf cart up and down Main Street.

Incident: DUI
Deputies arrested a driver on I-80 after observing an open container during a traffic stop and determining the driver was impaired.
