Prospector Square weekend lot closures to impact local businesses this month

PARK CITY, Utah — Two popular Prospector Square businesses will be affected two Saturdays this month as a major infrastructure improvement project enters its final stages.

Alberto’s Mexican Food and Clockwork Café will be affected by paving work in Lot I, the parking area shared by the businesses and The Park Record offices. The lot is scheduled to close on Saturday, June 13, and Saturday, June 20, weather permitting.

On June 13, Alberto’s and Clockwork Café will remain open, though parking will be limited. Parking directly in front of Alberto’s will remain available until 3 p.m., and the restaurant’s drive-thru will continue operating.

The businesses will be closed entirely on June 20 while paving is completed.

Visitors should note that no parking will be allowed in Lot I after 8 p.m. on the Fridays before each closure. Vehicles left in the lot may be relocated or towed. The lot is expected to reopen on Sundays following each closure, with striping scheduled for the evening of June 20.

The temporary closures come as the Prospector Square Property Owners Association wraps up a multi-year infrastructure project that has upgraded sewer lines, parking lots, walkways, and lighting throughout the commercial district.

According to PSPOA, crews installed the final manhole last week, completing the replacement of aging six-inch sewer lines with new eight-inch lines throughout Prospector Square. Since the project began in 2018, more than $3 million has been invested in infrastructure improvements.

Additional asphalt maintenance is planned elsewhere in Prospector Square later this summer. Lot K, across from the Realtors building on Prospector Avenue, will close for two days, while Lot A, commonly known as the 7-Eleven lot, is expected to close for one day, likely in August.

The completion of Lot I paving will mark one of the final major steps in a years-long effort to modernize infrastructure in the Prospector business district.
