Police Log: Impaired driving, home burglary, and a gas station bathroom break gone wrong

Park City police and Summit County deputies responded to a series of incidents in early May involving multiple impaired drivers, a reported burglary, and a trailer theft that was later recovered after being found abandoned in a nearby neighborhood.
On May 2, deputies arrested a driver on I-80 after a collision with a concrete barrier and signs of impairment. An additional DUI arrests followed on Rasmussen Road, where deputies responded to a report of a man urinating at a gas station. The suspect was later located driving, found intoxicated, and in possession of a firearm.
Other notable incidents included a burglary on Discovery Way where jewelry and a purse were reported stolen, and a trailer theft from Bear View Drive that resulted in approximately $1,000 in damage after the trailer was later located abandoned.
Police also responded to reports of vagrancy, trespassing, juvenile e-bike activity, and ongoing traffic and parking complaints throughout the week.
Monday, April 27
Incident: Welfare check
Officers were called to the Transit Center on Swede Alley after reports of individuals camping nearby. The caller also reported a strong odor of urine inside the facility.
Incident: Livestock problem
A group of goats was reported loose and unpenned on Royal Street, near the roadway without supervision.
Incident: Vagrancy
A homeless individual was reported on a hiking trail near SR-224 and Meadows Drive, with concerns about garbage accumulation and small fires being lit.
Incident: Suspicious activity
A caller on Fairway Village Drive reported seeing a light moving around their home late at night and requested an officer check the area.
Tuesday, April 28
Incident: Trespassing
A man described as a white male with a shaved head, wearing dark clothing and carrying a gray backpack, was reported trespassing and staying overnight near Deer Valley Drive East.
Wednesday, April 29
Incident: Motorist assist
An abandoned vehicle with a broken axle was reported off SR-248 near mile marker 2. It was not obstructing traffic.
Incident: Scam attempt
A Park Avenue resident reported receiving fraudulent requests for payment related to alleged unpaid highway fines or tolls.
Incident: Citizen assist
A man reported returning to his truck on Deer Valley Drive to find an iPad and bags inside that did not belong to him.
Incident: Trespassing
Mountain bikers were reported trespassing on private property on Royal Street East.
Incident: Juvenile problem
Three juveniles on e-bikes were seen performing wheelies on Park Avenue.
Incident: Intoxication
Deputies responded to a truck and trailer blocking the roadway near the Holiday Hills RV Park and gas station. The driver was found intoxicated with open containers in the vehicle and was arrested. The vehicle was towed.
Thursday, April 30
Incident: Criminal mischief
A home builder reported that someone came into a home being built and caused damage to counter tops. Deputies conducted an initial review of the scene, and currently there are no suspects.
Incident: Non-injury accident
A single-vehicle rollover was reported near China Bridge. The driver declined a police report, and the vehicle was towed.
Incident: Wildlife problem
An injured deer was reported near SR-248.
Incident: Utility issue
A water leak was reported in a parking lot on Park Avenue, with water actively spraying.
Friday, May 1
Incident: Traffic complaint
Residents on Aerie Drive reported construction vehicles speeding, particularly during morning and evening hours.
Incident: DUI
An intoxicated individual attempting to leave the area near Main Street and Summit Watch was reported. The individual appeared impaired or possibly experiencing a medical issue.
Incident: Parking problem
A gray work truck was reported parked illegally on Park Avenue, blocking another vehicle.
Saturday, May 2
Incident: Directed patrol
Officers conducted patrols in the Bonanza Flat area, advising visitors about no-parking zones near the closed Blood Lake trailhead.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested on I-80 eastbound after colliding with a concrete barrier and showing signs of impairment.
Incident: DUI, weapons offense, open container
Deputies responded to a report of a man urinating at a gas station on Rasmussen Road. The suspect was later located driving, found intoxicated, and in possession of a firearm. He was arrested and booked.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested on Saint Moritz Strasse after crashing off the roadway and rolling their vehicle multiple times. The driver showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.
Incident: Burglary
A home on Discovery Way was burglarized while the resident was away. A purse and jewelry were reported stolen after entry through a balcony door.
Sunday, May 3
Incident: Citizen assist
A driver on Main Street reported being unable to remove a parking boot and could not reach parking enforcement.
Incident: Theft
A trailer was reported stolen from Bear View Drive and later found abandoned on Mahre Drive with its lock cut. Approximately $1,000 in damage was reported.
Incident: Intoxication
Deputies responded to a suspicious person near Bitner Road and located an individual showing signs of heavy intoxication. The subject was arrested.
