Skier dies after striking tree at Alta Ski Area

ALTA, Utah — A 19-year-old man died Sunday after colliding with a tree while skiing at Alta Ski Area in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
According to FOX 13, Alta Town Marshal Mike Morey said the incident occurred around noon in the “Nina’s” area of the resort. Alta Ski Patrol responded and attempted lifesaving measures before transporting the victim to the base area, where a medical helicopter flew him to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Officials believe the crash was accidental and say no other skiers were involved. The victim’s name has not been released pending family notification.
