Police Log: DUI arrest, Old Town noise complaints, and retail theft

Park City police and emergency crews responded to a wide range of calls last week, including multiple noise complaints, resort thefts, a DUI arrest on I-80, and a serious snowmobile crash in the backcountry. Officers also handled reports of vagrancy, minor traffic accidents, and disturbances tied to late-night activity in Old Town as the busy winter season continues.

Monday, February 23

Incident: Vagrancy
A caller on Woodside Avenue reported a man sleeping on the third floor of her condo complex.

Incident: Non-injury accident
A minor fender bender occurred at Bonanza Drive and Deer Valley Drive. The vehicles involved moved to a nearby parking lot. No injuries were reported.

Incident: Parking violation
A vehicle was reported parked in front of a no-parking sign along a red curb on Main Street and left running.

Tuesday, February 24

Incident: Vagrancy
A caller reported someone sleeping in the Main Street bathrooms near Café Cow.

Incident: Citizen assist
A resident on Arabian Drive reported melting snow from city plowing was running down the driveway and into the home’s garage.

Incident: Non-injury accident
A minor fender bender was reported at Lowell Avenue and Shadow Ridge. No injuries were reported, and a public safety officer was on scene.

Incident: DUI
Deputies responded to a report of a potentially impaired driver on I-80 who was seen driving off-road, re-entering the roadway, and striking a center median. The vehicle was located near Silver Creek. The driver was found to be heavily impaired and was arrested on suspicion of first-offense DUI, possession of a controlled substance, open container, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.

Wednesday, February 25

Incident: Non-injury accident
A minor fender bender was reported at Lowell Avenue and Shadow Ridge. No injuries were reported.

Incident: Traffic stop
A vehicle was stopped on Park Avenue for driving the wrong way.

Thursday, February 26

Incident: Theft
A set of skis was reported stolen from the Bridge Café at Town Lift Plaza on Main Street. The theft reportedly occurred about an hour before it was reported. No suspects were identified.

Friday, February 27

Incident: Disturbing the peace
Loud music was reported coming from a penthouse on Stein Circle. The occupants briefly turned the music down before turning it back up.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported an outdoor rave on Main Street that was allegedly violating the noise ordinance.

Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported a homeless individual at the Old Town Transit Center who had previously been trespassed from the property.

Incident: Business assist
A heavily intoxicated man was reported outside the front doors of the hospital on Round Valley Drive, bothering people and asking for money.

Incident: Retail theft
Deputies responded to Sunglass Hut on Landmark Drive for a retail theft that had just occurred. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the two suspects.

Saturday, February 28

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller on Lowell Avenue reported extremely loud music coming from a residence believed to be operating as an unlicensed rental.

Sunday, March 1

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A large group was reported outside near Empire Avenue, laughing and yelling loudly in the early morning hours.

Incident: Theft
A caller reported gray and white snow boots were taken from near the front of a building at Deer Valley Resort.

Incident: Snowmobile accident
Search and Rescue responded to a snowmobile crash on Soapstone Road near the Iron Mine turn. A male rider struck a tree head-on and sustained multiple injuries. SAR, South Summit EMS, AirMed, deputies, and DNR officers responded. The victim was transported to the trailhead and flown to the University of Utah Hospital. DNR is investigating the accident.
