Initial reports indicate the fire may have originated as a grease fire that burned up through the roof, prompting the call to the fire district, though a full investigation into the cause has not yet been conducted. Multiple trucks responded to the scene as visible smoke billowed from the roof of the building.

It is unclear at this time whether anyone was inside the restaurant when it broke out.

Chimayo, a longtime fixture on Historic Main Street, has been a staple of the Park City dining scene for years.

Chimayo is owned by Bill White Enterprises, the local hospitality group behind several of Park City’s most recognized Main Street restaurants. The fire marks the second time in recent years that a Bill White Enterprises property has dealt with a significant blaze. In September 2022, a structure fire broke out at Grappa, another Bill White-owned restaurant just steps away on Main Street.

This is a developing story. TownLift will provide updates as more information becomes available.
