SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Fire officials have scheduled a planned prescribed burn on the 910 Ranch property north of Jeremy Ranch. The controlled operation is part of efforts to reduce wildfire risk and protect nearby homes and open space.
Firefighters, foresters, and county staff are taking advantage of the cool, wet weather and will monitor all active burns, according to Summit County. These prescribed burns have been shown to reduce wildfire frequency and severity, maintain ecosystem health, and protect nearby communities.
Residents in the Snyderville Basin and surrounding areas may see or smell smoke as the burn progresses, but county and fire officials emphasize this is intentional and monitored.
Local authorities are asking community members not to report the smoke.
