One year later, these 2025 Sundance films receive Oscar nominations

PARK CITY, Utah — Hollywood’s biggest morning dropped just as Park City rolled out the red carpet. As the Sundance Film Festival kicked off, Oscar nominations landed too, and several films with Sundance roots found themselves in the Academy Awards conversation.

Eight Sundance Institute–supported films earned 11 nominations across categories including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role, Writing (Adapted Screenplay), and Makeup and Hairstyling, according to the Sundance Institute. Other highlights came in the Documentary Feature Film category, where all five nominees are Sundance Institute–supported projects.

Train Dreams led the Sundance-supported films with four nominations, including Best Picture. Rose Bryne landed a nomination for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, and documentaries Come See Me in the Good Light and The Perfect Neighbor were recognized.

Sundance Institute Labs and Fest alums Chloé Zhao, Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Festival alums Joachim Trier and Josh Safdie received Directing nominations.
