“This year’s event was scheduled nearly three weeks earlier than in recent seasons, and sustained warm temperatures, unlike anything we have ever seen before, limited our ability to build the aerial and dual mogul venues to the standards our staff and athletes deserve,” Bennett said.
PARK CITY, Utah — Freestyle World Cup events scheduled for Deer Valley Resort in mid Januaray will be moved to new venues on the east coast after unseasonably warm weather limited snow conditions, U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced Tuesday.
The aerials World Cup will now be held alongside the Stifel Lake Placid Freestyle Cup in Lake Placid, New York, on Jan. 11-12, 2026. Two individual aerials events will replace the originally planned team competition. Moguls and dual moguls events will move to Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire on Jan. 15-16.
Officials said the changes are intended to preserve critical Olympic qualification opportunities in an Olympic year.
“While this year’s weather has created some challenges, our priority is ensuring athletes have the best opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Winter Games,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, president and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
Deer Valley President and COO Todd Bennett said sustained warm temperatures and an earlier-than-usual event date made it impossible to build competition venues to required standards.

“This year’s event was scheduled nearly three weeks earlier than in recent seasons, and sustained warm temperatures, unlike anything we have ever seen before, limited our ability to build the aerial and dual mogul venues to the standards our staff and athletes deserve,” Bennett said.
Bennett added that the resort remains committed to World Cup competition and will return as a host next season. Ticket holders will be contacted directly regarding refunds.
