PARK CITY, Utah — The Youth Sports Alliance (YSA), the Utah-based non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth participation in sports across Summit and Wasatch counties, as well as along the Wasatch Front, recently announced the appointment of Team Macuga — sisters Sam, Lauren, and Alli Macuga — as its newest brand ambassadors.
The three Park City natives — who collectively compete in three distinct elite disciplines (ski jumping, alpine skiing, and moguls) — will leverage their international platform to promote YSA’s core mission of providing affordable access to sports and recreation for all local youth, regardless of background or financial means.
“YSA’s Get Out and Play gave me my start in ski jumping and opened a door I didn’t even know existed,” notes Sam in a statement. “That’s why YSA matters so much to me — I want as many kids as possible to have the same opportunities I had. It’s about opening that same door for every kid to try different sports, find one they love, build skills, and grow — whether they aim for the top or simply discover a lifelong passion.”
The Macuga sisters are a powerful legacy of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, having benefited directly from the community’s commitment to growing local winter sports. Through their new role, they will participate in YSA events and initiatives, reinforcing the pathway from introductory sport programs to the highest levels of competition.
A Family Commitment to Community
Emily Fisher, YSA executive director, spoke in the statement to the family’s long-standing connection to the organization: “The Macuga sisters truly embody the spirit of the Youth Sports Alliance. It has been incredibly rewarding watching Sam, Lauren, and Alli grow from Youth Sports Alliance afterschool program participants into world-class athletes, all while remaining actively involved in our programs and events. Their support for important fundraisers like JANS Winter Welcome shows their commitment to ensuring that the next generation of Park City athletes has the same opportunities they did.”
The Macugas’ involvement is already making waves on the international stage.
Bringing the YSA mission to the World Cup
Alpine skier Lauren Macuga, a U.S. Ski Team standout and World Cup Super-G winner, recently formalized her commitment in a highly visible way. “Partnering with the YSA is personal for me,” said Lauren Macuga in the statement. “The organization provided the crucial foundation for my whole family, and I’m honored to give back. Announcing my commitment by placing the YSA logo on my World Cup training bib this season is my way of keeping their mission visible as I travel the globe. It’s a reminder that every elite dream starts with local community support, and I want every kid in Park City to know that YSA is there for them.”
Alli Macuga added, “YSA really allowed for us all to reach out and try things we would have never been able to otherwise. This helped get us into our sports we love and to the level we are at now.”
The partnership will focus on increasing awareness of YSA’s signature programs, including the Get Out & Play afterschool program and the Stein Eriksen YSA Opportunity Endowment, which provides crucial need-based scholarships to athletes for coaching, equipment, and travel fees.
