It’s giving girl dinner: the Girl Winter Film Tour

PARK CITY, Utah — Just like “girl dinner” that celebrates the joy of perfectly curated small bites, the Girl Winter Film Tour serves up an irresistible collection of short films that pack maximum flavor into every moment. Presented by Stio and supported by Ski Utah, the tour opens in Park City on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Jim Santy Auditorium.

Stio will be bringing the stoke to the film tour. Stop by the Stio booth and save big on pre-loved Stio Second Turn® and new Fall 25 apparel, enter our Ski Kit Giveaway, and customize a Stio x BirdieBlue tote. Stio’s Second Turn program helps keep gear in use and out of landfills by creating a circular commerce system that reduces waste and pollution in the fashion industry, which accounts for 8-10% of global carbon emissions. The program allows customers to shop or trade in used Stio items, giving durable gear designed to last a second chance at more adventures rather than ending up as waste.

The event is part of the Raising Voices Film Series, with grant support from the Park City Municipal Corporation and the Park City Chamber. This collaboration represents a shared commitment to amplifying women’s voices in snow sports and creating platforms for these important stories to be shared.

The Girl Winter Film Tour takes its inspiration from the concept of “girl dinner” – those wonderfully eclectic meals made up of your favorite snacks, treats, and small plates that somehow create the perfect combination. Similarly, these short films offer a diverse mix of experiences that come together to create something truly satisfying.

This year’s carefully curated selection features six compelling short films, each bringing its own unique flavor to the table:

Mimic (directed by Hadley Michaels and Piper Kunst) features Piper Kunst in what promises to be a captivating exploration of identity and performance in the mountains.

Trails Still Blazing (directed by Iz La Motte) showcases Megan McJames, continuing the important conversation about pioneering women who’ve shaped the sport.

Queen of the Catskills (directed by Jamie Kennard) puts the spotlight on Julie McGuire, celebrating the local legends who define their home mountains.

Dear Superhero (directed by Corinna Marie Halloran and Jase Hancox) brings together an international cast including Janina Kuzma, Leanne Pelosi, and Evelina Nilsson for what sounds like an inspiring tribute to the heroes in our lives.

Let My People Go Skiing (directed by Ellen Bradley) features Ellen Bradley herself, promising a personal and powerful narrative.

That One Friend (directed by Sara Beam Robbins) showcases Sierra Schlag and Waverly Chin in what’s sure to be a relatable story about the bonds formed through shared mountain experiences.

The Girl Winter Film Tour goes beyond entertainment – it’s about creating community and continuing important conversations. Each event features the complete film program followed by Q&A sessions with the athletes and filmmakers who brought these stories to life, providing opportunities for deeper engagement and connection with the creative minds behind each project.

While the tour celebrates women in snow sports, the organizers emphasize that all are welcome. The goal is to create an inclusive space where the entire community can come together to appreciate these stories and support the continued growth of women’s representation in skiing and snowboarding.

In a sport where women’s stories have historically been underrepresented, the Girl Winter Film Tour offers a refreshing and necessary platform. Like the perfect girl dinner, it’s about quality over quantity, diversity over conformity, and the simple pleasure of enjoying exactly what makes you happy.

The Girl Winter Film Tour proves that sometimes the best experiences come in perfectly portioned packages. Just as girl dinner celebrates the art of creating something wonderful from your favorite small bites, this film tour creates something meaningful from a collection of powerful short stories.
