WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Wasatch Trails Foundation shared updates on five major trail initiatives underway in the Heber Valley, reflecting months of planning and community collaboration. The projects include new connections, restoration work, and expanded options for hiking, mountain biking and other recreational activities.
WOW to BLT trail connection
In partnership with the Mountain Trails Foundation, crews are nearing completion on the WOW to BLT Connector. The Wasatch-side loop includes an uphill/multiuse trail and a downhill-only trail, with wooden features being added by Coyote Canyon Construction. The main connector trail over the peak is expected to be finished this fall. A hike-only segment creating an aspen-covered loop from the top of the WOW trail is being built by staff and volunteers.

Southfield Park all-wheels pumptrack
Construction is progressing on the county’s first asphalt all-wheels pumptrack, designed for riders of all ages and skill levels. The project has support from multiple community partners, including Wasatch County Parks and Recreation, Midway City, Heber City, Wasatch TAP, Heber Valley Chamber, Wasatch Community Foundation, Gravity Coalition, SRAM, Heber Valley Brewing, the Taylor Family, Tori Broughton, and many others.

Pine Canyon to Soldier Hollow mid-slope connector
Planning is underway for a roughly 15-mile multi-use trail linking Pine Canyon to the Soldier Hollow complex. The route will provide future opportunities for connetions into nearby neighborhoods.

Dutch Hollow restoration
Crews have continued erosion control, grading, vegetation management, and minor reroutes in Dutch Hollow to restore flow and safety. The work is aimed at preserving one of the area’s most heavily used trail systems for future generations.

Springer Hollow downhill trail
The first advanced downhill trail on the west side of the Heber Valley is approximately 70 percent complete. Designed for expert riders, the route includes large rocks, berms, jumps, gaps, and multiple line options. Volunteers are invited to assist with construction on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested can contact info@wasatchtrailsfoundation.org for details.
The foundation encourages residents to support trail work by volunteering or through the Smith’s Inspiring Donations program, which directs 0.5% of purchases to the foundation when shoppers register with code NH133.
