KAMAS — A lightning strike during a Saturday storm in the Uintas that caused a small wildfire was quickly contained according to the U.S. Forest Service Heber-Kamas Ranger District.
The blaze, reported near Haystack Lake about 25 miles from Kamas, burned just a half-acre before crews secured containment lines. The fire is located south of Washington Lake and west of Spring Canyon Road.
With fire behavior minimal and no growth expected, officials have placed the incident in patrol status. Firefighters will continue to monitor conditions and check for lingering hot spots in the coming days.
