SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Wasatch Wildflower Festival, now in its 29th year, will spread across the Cottonwood Canyons on four July dates, offering free guided walks that spotlight the region’s alpine blooms and promote watershed stewardship.
Founded in 1996 by Alta locals and Alta Community Enrichment, the festival was created to showcase and safeguard the Wasatch Mountains’ botanical diversity. Volunteer guides lead visitors along mellow trails, pointing out scores of blooming species while emphasizing leave-no-trace practices.
This year’s schedule begins Saturday, July 12, at Brighton Resort, where the Brighton Institute will co-host in conjunction with Brighton Days. The celebration shifts to nearby Solitude Mountain Resort on Sunday, July 13. The following weekend, July 19, Snowbird Sustainability welcomes hikers to Snowbird Resort, and the series concludes July 20 at Alta Ski Area with Alta Community Enrichment and the Alta Environmental Center.
Each venue offers walks tailored to all ages and ability levels, along with children’s crafts, live music, and food. While admission is free, advance registration is required for all programs.
Organizers say the festival’s noncommercial approach remains central to its mission: connect people with wildflowers while cultivating respect for the fragile high-elevation ecosystem. Registration links and additional details are posted on the Wasatch Wildflower Festival website.
