PARK CITY, Utah — The Kimball Art Center will host a special Mother’s Day pottery workshop next month, offering families a creative alternative to traditional celebrations.
The “Wheel-try-it” drop-in pottery workshop will take place on Friday, May 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the center’s location on Kearns Boulevard in Park City.
According to the center, the workshop offers a creative, hands-on experience for Mother’s Day celebrations. The event welcomes moms and children of all ages, providing families with an opportunity to spend quality time together while learning pottery basics.
Participants will begin with a demonstration by a studio staff member covering either wheel throwing or hand-building techniques before creating their own pottery pieces.
The workshop costs $45 per person, which includes enough clay for two completed pieces, plus firing and glazing. Finished artwork will be available for pickup 7-14 days after the class.
All ages can participate, though children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The center notes that the potter’s wheel is not recommended for children under 8 years old.
Registration information is available on the Kimball Art Center’s website.
