SNAPPED: Volunteers transform Park City Senior Center in weekend makeover

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Senior Center received a bright new look last weekend as volunteers and professionals joined forces to replace decades-old paneling with fresh paint.

Since 1976, the center’s walls had been covered with brown fake wood plywood paneling. On March 1-2, a collaborative effort involving four community partners worked to modernize the space.

The makeover brought together R L Peek Painting, Park City Senior Citizens, Inc., Benjamin Moore, and the Young Men’s Service League of Park City. The team turned the dated interior into a brighter gathering space for the community’s seniors.

Bob Peek of R L Peek Painting donated his time and materials to teach the young volunteers professional painting techniques.

The collaboration began last year when Summer Oleksy, president of the Young Men’s Service League, reached out to the senior center seeking volunteer opportunities. The Board of Trustees later approved the painting project.

For the center’s senior members, the project provided a significant upgrade to their gathering space, replacing the brown paneling that had been in place for nearly five decades.
