Park City’s Trailside Elementary ranks 10th statewide in Utah Board of Education report

PARK CITY, Utah — According to a report released by the Utah Board of Education, Trailside Elementary in Park City has emerged as the 10th highest-performing school among Utah’s 950 schools, demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and student growth.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible teamwork at Trailside. We have hardworking students, dedicated staff, and a supportive community that all play a part. It’s been amazing to see everyone’s efforts come together, and we’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said Principal Tracy Fike.

The comprehensive state evaluation, which assessed school performance across multiple metrics, revealed Trailside Elementary’s strong standing with a near-perfect 99.6% student participation rate. The school’s academic proficiency rates were consistent:

  • English Language Arts: 69.3%
  • Mathematics: 75.0%
  • Science: 76.5%

Student growth metrics were particularly impressive, with rates including:

  • English Language Arts: 66.2%
  • Mathematics: 78.6%
  • Science: 79.4%
  • Growth of Lowest 25%: 81.8%

In the Utah Board of Education’s accountability system, Trailside Elementary scored:

  • Achievement: 41 out of 56 possible points
  • Growth: 42 out of 56 possible points
  • English Learner Progress: 7 out of 13 possible points
  • Growth of Lowest 25%: 20 out of 25 possible points

English learner programs showed 51.7% making adequate progress, with 24.1% reaching proficiency. Early literacy metrics indicated 62% of students reading at grade level, and 69.6% making typical or better progress.

Fike shared, “At Trailside and across the district, we’re very intentional in planning our instruction, interventions, and enrichment opportunities. We also ensure that students are cared for academically, behaviorally, and socially and that all students find a sense of belonging. The things we are focused on have us moving in the right direction.”

The report highlights Trailside Elementary as a top-performing school, ranking 10th among Utah’s 950 schools in the state’s comprehensive educational assessment.
