Park City Holiday Spectacular: A community tradition at the Egyptian Theatre

PARK CITY, Utah — The holiday season comes alive at the Egyptian Theatre with the Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-Along, running Dec. 13-22. A cherished local tradition, the event promises a heartwarming evening of performances, audience sing-alongs, and festive cheer.

“We want our audience to leave with that great, warm sense of the Christmas spirit,” said Jake Larrabee, artistic director at the Egyptian Theatre. “It’s really special what we do for this show every year, and I look forward to it every time.”

The Holiday Spectacular features an all-local cast showcasing an array of talent through music, dance, and a choir-led sing-along. With multiple matinee performances on Saturdays, the event is designed to accommodate families who may find evening shows challenging. Tickets start at $12 for youth and $15 for adults, with premium seating options available. Prices increase by $5 when purchased at the door.

This year’s production will highlight the Egyptian’s state-of-the-art upgrades, including three new large video walls, which Larrabee said will “bring our audience into the show.” High-energy sing-along numbers and curated performances ensure something for everyone, from children to grandparents.

The Holiday Spectacular has a storied history. Randy Barton began hosting holiday shows at the Egyptian Theatre more than two decades ago. About 13 years ago, Amber Hansen, a former artistic director, transformed it into a variety show, and it has since evolved into the vibrant spectacle it is today. Larrabee, who stepped into his current role two years ago, continues to build on this legacy.

“Our cast just brims with holiday spirit and cheer,” Larrabee said. “This time of year has a lot of special connections for people, and it’s a privilege to help stoke those feelings.”

The show also includes a special visit from Santa Claus, portrayed by Rick Miller, who Larrabee described as “one of the best Santas I know personally.”

For those on the fence about attending, Larrabee offers reassurance: “This is definitely a show to bring your family to, to bring your grandkids to. We want it to be a wonderful, magical, spectacular evening.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Egyptian Theatre box office or online.
