Assault charges filed after alleged attack at Park City outlets

Offender allegedly assaulted driver in road-rage incident captured partially on video

PARK CITY, Utah — Summit County authorities are reviewing charges against an adult male following his arrest for allegedly assaulting another man during a confrontation on November 9 near the Park City outlets. The arrestee faces charges of assault and interference with a communication device, according to the court’s probable cause affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the defendant followed the man into the outlet mall parking lot after allegedly honking at him on Kilby Road. The affidavit details that the defendant knocked the man’s phone to the ground, punched him in the ribs, and pushed him.

Sergeant Felicia Sotelo of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that while video footage does not capture all aspects of the altercation, “there was definitely enough probable cause, based on what was shown in the video, to make the arrest.” Witnesses corroborated parts of the alleged victim’s account, translated on-site by bilingual bystanders, as the man primarily speaks Spanish.
