Red flag conditions pose high fire risk

PARK CITY, Utah — Due to an ongoing Fire Weather Watch and Red Flag Conditions, Summit County has prohibited all open burning from October 3, 2024, through Saturday, October 5.

A Red Flag Warning, issued by the National Weather Service, signifies imminent or existing critical fire weather conditions. These conditions are characterized by a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures, all of which can contribute to the rapid spread of wildfires.

Summit County residents can text SCFIREINFO to 888777 for fire updates, such as fire conditions, Red Flag Warnings, and prescribed burns.
