Police Log: Two police chases on Friday
Friday, October 11
Disorderly Conduct, Evading Police
Deputies were called to 100 East in Coalville after receiving reports of a man running erratically through yards in the neighborhood. This was the second such incident involving the same individual that day. Several callers reported that he was behaving paranoid, claiming people were attempting to harm him as he ran through several different streets and private properties. Upon making contact, deputies observed signs of drug influence and pronounced paranoia in the individual. During their conversation, the individual attempted to escape, leading deputies on a pursuit on foot. The situation culminated in the deployment of a taser.
Vehicular Pursuit, DUI, Reckless Driving
Dispatch reported that the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a black BMW heading southbound on Yellow Creek. The suspect vehicle then turned around and headed toward Wasatch Road, where Wyoming officers ended the pursuit at the state line. Deputies later located the vehicle in Echo Canyon and attempted to stop it, initiating another vehicular pursuit. The vehicle eventually left the roadway near mile marker 178, coming to a stop by the railroad tracks. The suspect then proceeded to flee on foot, heading west toward a slot canyon. Deputies then deployed K9s and eventually located the suspect. The suspect was reportedly passed out, and NARCAN was administered to revive the suspect who was then taken into custody.
Saturday, October 12
DUI
A deputy initiated a traffic stop for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed two open containers of Pacifico beer—one in the center console and another on the passenger-side floorboard. The driver exhibited slurred speech, and there was a noticeable odor of alcohol both on his person and inside the vehicle. The driver performed poorly on the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the Summit County Jail, where he consented to a blood draw before being booked.
Retail Theft, Possession of Methamphetamine
Deputies responded to a reported theft at Walmart. The suspect was located and found in possession of the stolen item. After giving consent for a search, deputies discovered a user amount of methamphetamine among the suspect’s belongings. It was also determined that the suspect had active warrants out of Weber County and the state of Arkansas. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
