UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: UDOT reports that I-80 WB has re-opened. Fox 13 reports that two people were inside the semi. They were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah —A tractor-trailer rolled and caught fire this morning, closing westbound Interstate 80 through Parley’s Canyon and forcing semi trucks to reroute to Park City. The fire is out, and emergency crews are cleaning up the incident. Traffic is being rerouted through Emigration Canyon.
According to transportation officials, the closure begins at mile marker 130 near the Quarry exit. Authorities have not provided an estimated time for reopening the highway.
All semi-truck traffic must use the Park City route as an alternate pathway, and officials have stated that trucks are not allowed through Emigration Canyon. Other motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
