Habitat for Humanity invites community to decorate for a cause in annual fundraiser

PARK CITY, Utah — Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties is seeking decorators for its annual “Celebrating Home Holiday Tree Show” fundraiser.

The expanded event will feature holiday trees, gingerbread houses, and seasonal décor. Interested groups and individuals can register to decorate and donate items for the Homeownership Program fundraiser.

Decorators can enter their creations in four categories: Business, Designer/Decorator, Individual/Family, and Community Group. The registration deadline is Oct. 25, and no entry fee is required.

Entries will be auctioned online during the free public event, and attendees will vote for Audience Awards in each category.

Shellie Barrus, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties, said, “This event highlights the idea that home is about family, tradition, being together, and feeling safe and warm. That encapsulates the real outcomes of families who work with Habitat to buy a home of their own.”

The fundraiser supports Habitat’s mission to create affordable homeownership opportunities in the Wasatch Back. Families working in Summit and Wasatch Counties partner with Habitat to build homes, which they purchase through affordable mortgages.

The event will also feature children’s activities and a Park City ReStore pop-up boutique.

The “Celebrating Home Holiday Tree Show” will take place Dec. 6-7 at Utah Film Studios, 4001 Kearns Blvd., Park City. Admission is free.
