Update: Elizabeth Ridge fire 10% contained

The wildfire was discovered Saturday, September 14 and is burning timber west of Fish Lake

Update from 9/17 at 12:03 p.m.: 45 personnel are working on containing the fire. Despite strong winds today, the fire has remained within containment lines, spanning 105 acres, and is 10% contained.

Update from 9/16 at 11:21 a.m.: 85 firefighters are working to suppress the fire, including three hand crews, three engine crews, and a helicopter crew supported by four helicopters. Firefighting resources assigned to the fire include the State of Utah, Forest Service, and contractor crews. The fire is mapped at approximately 132 acres and is 10% contained.

The Elizabeth Ridge Fire, discovered at 11:34 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, has grown to 10 acres in the dense timber of the Uinta Mountains. The fire is located north of the North Slope Road, west of Lyman, Little Lyman, and Fish Lake, and is moving eastward.

Resources are actively responding to the fire. Currently, 16 county engines, 2 U.S. Forest Service engines, 3 helicopters, and two crews of 20 personnel each are on site or en route to the scene.

Evacuations and Closures:
Evacuations have been ordered for the Elizabeth Mountain Ridge area. The evacuation zone extends from Elizabeth Ridge eastward to the East Fork of the Black Fork Canyon. Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Summit County Utah Search and Rescue, and the U.S. Forest Service are assisting with evacuations, and residents and visitors are urged to avoid the area.

Fire Containment Efforts:
By 7:30 p.m., the fire remained at approximately 5-10 acres. Firefighters, along with Summit County deputies, are working through the night to contain the fire, particularly around the Lyman Lake area.
