Utah ranks fourth happiest state, best place to live in 2024
WalletHub study finds Utah excelling in happiness, livability metrics; high volunteer rate and low unemployment among key factors
UTAH — Utah has been ranked as the fourth happiest state in America and the fourth best state to live in for 2024, according to two separate studies by WalletHub. The personal finance website analyzed 50 states using income growth, health, and safety indicators.
WalletHub’s happiness report highlights Utah’s top rankings in volunteerism and low separation and divorce rates.
The Beehive State also claims the first spot for having the fewest work hours and ranks third for the lowest percentage of long-term unemployment.
Meanwhile, Utah’s safety rank is fourth, and income growth is in the top 10.
In the “Best States to Live” ranking, Utah’s strong performance is attributed to its low poverty rate, which ranks second, and relatively high homeownership rate, which ranks 12th.
“States that provide an above-average quality of life in various areas tend to foster happiness,” says WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. “Utah’s blend of community, safety, and economic stability seems to offer exactly that.”
