Law enforcement conducts full-scale emergency drill at Canyons Village
Summit County agencies collaborate in preparedness training exercise
PARK CITY, Utah — Law enforcement and emergency personnel conducted a full-scale emergency training exercise at Canyons Village yesterday, Sept. 24. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office alerted residents and visitors in advance, emphasizing that the increased law enforcement presence was part of the drill.
The exercise, which ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., aimed to enhance the readiness of local agencies for real emergencies by improving inter-agency collaboration and response. Derek Siddoway, communication and public engagement director for Summit County, explained the importance of such exercises.
“We’re here today doing a joint full-scale exercise,” Siddoway said. “There are dozens of partners involved with this, both local partners with Park City and in the county, and some of our fire districts and state partners as well, all coming together to take this opportunity to train and to really practice collaborating on a large-scale event.”
The exercise involved evaluating the response capabilities of various agencies outside of an actual emergency, allowing participants to learn and prepare for future incidents.
