Youth United holding Community Sign Up Day on August 25

PARK CITY, Utah — Youth United is combining its donor appreciation event with its fundraising event at the upcoming Super Sunday Sign Up Day, where over 30 organizations in Park City will help register hundreds of children for activities and services.

Because Youth United reaches the entire Latinx community, it invites non-sports entities like Hope Alliance, immigration lawyers, affordable housing organizations, the People’s Health Clinic, the Park City Hospital, the University of Utah, and many others to this event.

There will be free food and drink for all attendees.

It will be held at Park City Mountain’s Legacy Lodge on August 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. for signups and 4 to 6 p.m. for all other guests.

People can RSVP here.

“After last year’s wonderful Super Sunday, I wanted donors and perhaps future donors to see just how successful Youth United has become since its inception eight years ago. Through these experiences, kids from all backgrounds become friends and feel a sense of accomplishment and belonging,” Beano Solomon told TownLift. She’s a now-named Youth United founder. “It’s powerful for anyone in the room to be a part of such a special movement and moment.”

Youth United has successfully grown Latinx student participation in sports and recreation up to 18%, which more accurately reflects local demographics.

“Park City Community Foundation’s Youth United is for Latina/o/x kids, BIPOC kids, and kids of any background who are navigating any financial constraints,” Diego Zegarra told TownLift. He’s the VP of Equity and Impact at the Community Foundation. “Twice a year, Youth United hosts registration events for families to sign up their children for a variety of sports and activities. This August, kids can register for fall and winter sports like basketball, boxing, and skiing, and activities like dance, and Model U.N. with scholarships available. Families will also access health services, eye exams, and other resources. Through our Youth United events, we increase access to sports and recreation, as well as create a space of inclusion for all families.” He added, “It’s for the hardworking families in the community so they can know their children have opportunities. No one is turned away.”
