Park City Rotary Club honors Park City citizens of the year

PARK CITY, Utah – Earlier today, the Park City Rotary Club held a ceremony to recognize its two Citizens of the Year. Tracy Meier received the Linda Singer Berrett Professional Citizen of the Year award, while Adam Strachan was honored with the Mayor Jack Green Volunteer Citizen of the Year award.

Tracy Meier serves as the program manager at the National Ability Center and has devoted over 22 years to the adaptive recreation field. After earning her degree from East Carolina University, she started her career as an intern at the National Ability Center.

Meier is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, a PSIA Adaptive Level 3 Ski Instructor, and an examiner for Intermountain.

She has spoken at various local, national, and international conferences and training sessions. A notable achievement includes developing an exchange training program to create an Adaptive Ski program with instructors in South Korea.

Adam Strachan’s notable community contributions include serving as Chairman of the Park City Planning Commission from 2007 to 2017, as President of the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys, and as a board member of the Mountain Trails Foundation.

He earned his BA from the University of Southern California and his JD from the University of Utah, where he was the Executive Editor of the Journal of Land, Resources, and Environmental Law.

Professionally, Adam is a partner at Strachan Strachan & Simon PC, where he has represented nearly every ski resort in Utah, among other clients, across a broad range of cases.

“In the Park City Rotary Club, we are all motivated to serve our community,” said Past Rotary President Bob Richer, who oversees the awards.

“But it is also important for us as Rotarians to recognize those outside of our club who really make a difference through their service to the community. Tracy and Adam are just two examples of the great citizens we have in Park City who are dedicated to making our community a better place.”

Continuing a cherished tradition, Tracy Meier and Adam Strachan will serve as Grand Marshals for the Miners Day parade on September 2, which will take place along historic Main Street in Park City.

The Jack C. Green Volunteer Citizen of the Year Award honors the former Park City mayor who served from 1978 to 1986 and was pivotal in promoting community volunteerism during Park City’s early development as a destination resort.

The Linda Singer-Berrett Professional Citizen of the Year Award is named in tribute to Park City Rotary’s first female president, a committed community leader who made significant contributions as a teacher and school principal before her passing in 2000.
