Annual Point 2 Point race this weekend: How local riders, hikers can navigate trails

PARK CITY, Utah — This Labor Day weekend, the Park City trails will host the 15th annual Point 2 Point (PCP2P) mountain bike race, a grueling 75-mile challenge that will test riders and temporarily affect trail use for local residents.

Set for Saturday, the PCP2P is known for its demanding course, featuring over 12,000 feet of climbing predominantly on singletrack trails. The endurance event will weave through a significant portion of Park City’s extensive trail network and race organizers have released guidelines to help local trail users navigate the temporary changes.

Trail access will be affected throughout the day, with the race starting at 7 a.m. at Quinn’s Junction Recreation Complex and finishing at the Skullcandy headquarters in Kimball Junction. Organizers expect the first riders to cross the finish line around 1:30 p.m., with most racers finishing between 3 and 5 p.m.

To minimize conflicts, residents are advised to use trails in Park City Mountain, Canyons Village, and Utah Olympic Park areas before noon. After 1 p.m., trail users should focus on areas around Deer Valley Resort, Round Valley, and Lost Prospector.

The race route will progress through various trail systems, including Round Valley, Lost Prospector, Deer Valley, Park City Mountain, and ultimately to the Utah Olympic Park area.

Race officials have stated that all course markings will be removed within 4-6 days post-event and will repair any trail damage as soon as conditions allow.
