Animal haven seeks community support for crucial barn build

PARK CITY, Utah — The recent Plant-based Palooza fundraiser for Sage Mountain Sanctuary raised $26,500 and sponsored 29 animals. This success lays a strong foundation for the Sanctuary’s future goals, including building a new barn.

Fundraising Progress and Future Aims

The recent event was part of a larger campaign with two primary objectives:

1. Raise $100,000 to sponsor all animals at the Sanctuary
2. Raise $500,000 to build a new barn for winter protection

With $26,500 raised so far, the Sanctuary has made a promising start, but there’s still a considerable way to go to reach these targets.

Lauren Lockey, co-founder of Sage Mountain Sanctuary, expressed her gratitude for the community’s generosity: “I am so honored to get the support we do! The fact that people donate to and support our mission is amazing. We are grateful.”

The Crucial Need for a New Barn

The $500,000 goal for a new barn is a substantial undertaking, but according to Lockey, it’s vital for the well-being of the animals and the efficient operation of the sanctuary. She explained the critical importance of this project:

“The barn will not only provide the necessary protection during the harsh cold winters and hot summers, but also includes a needed veterinary and quarantine area for hurt or sick animals. It also gives easier access to feed and water and is a much safer environment for our employees and volunteers. As you know, the winter has proved to be extremely unforgiving. It got to the point where the snow was so high from the wind drifts, we couldn’t open gates or get into shelters. The barn will house all the animals while giving us better access to them and their needs.”
