Summit County to enforce fire ban effective July 19
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the extremely dry conditions in northeastern Utah, the State Forester, in consultation with the Summit County Commission, has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition of forest and rangeland fires.
Beginning Friday, July 19, 2024, at 12:01 AM, the use of any kind of fireworks, tracer ammunition, or exploding targets is prohibited on unincorporated and state land within Summit County.
Any of the above acts is a violation of state law and is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The ban comes days after the Summit County fire danger was elevated to Extreme.
An open fire ban was put in pace by the Park City Council on July 11, within the Park City limits and will go through October 31, 2024.
