Recycle Utah to host ninth annual 100 mile meal at Red Pine Lodge

PARK CITY, Utah — Join Recycle Utah in celebrating local food and farms at the Ninth Annual 100 Mile Meal on Saturday, August 17.

The event will take place at the Red Pine Lodge at Park City Mountain Resort, Canyons Village. It will begin with cocktails at 4 p.m. and conclude with dinner at 5:30 p.m.

This annual event highlights the connection between local farming and the community’s economic health. It features a five-course meal cooked by the chefs at Park City Mountain Resort, live music, and local wine and beer. The meal’s ingredients are sourced from farms within a 100-mile radius of Recycle Utah, supporting local agriculture and sustainability.

This year, Recycle Utah has a firm commitment from at least 25 farmers and local food producers. When farmers donate at least $100 of food to the meal, they are offered two seats at the table. Recycle Utah believes this aspect of the meal is important—it puts names and faces on the people who produce our local food.

“Their presence at the 100 Mile Meal gives them an opportunity to share their experiences and to bring greater awareness of the value of buying local,” said Sallie Rinderknecht, Recycle Utah’s farmers coordinator.

Buying local food reduces transportation emissions, supports the local economy, and helps community members eat food that grows naturally in our area. It also introduces people to the seasonality of food, which can be difficult when shopping at conventional grocery stores.

Along with the 100 Mile Meal promoting sustainability and waste reduction through education and connection to our local foodshed, it is also a fundraiser for Recycle Utah and helps support operational and programming costs.

Purchase tickets for this community-focused event and enjoy food from local farms, live music, and local alcoholic beverages with Recycle Utah this August.
