Tragedy at Midway Crater: Woman dies after surfacing from hot spring dive

MIDWAY, Utah – A 43-year-old woman died Tuesday evening during a dive at the Homestead Crater in Midway. Officials report she died shortly after surfacing at the popular hot spring tourist attraction.
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said she “experienced difficulty” after surfacing at about 6:30 p.m. on May 14.
CPR was performed at the crater, and the woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead later in the evening.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office is currently investigating the cause of death of the unidentified woman.
The Homestead Crater is 65 feet deep and has an average temperature of 95 degrees.
