Semi rollover on I-80 closes lanes and sends driver to hospital

Firefighters extricated the driver as 5,000 gallons of milk spilled near mile marker 160 on I-80

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A semi-truck rollover at mile marker 160 on Interstate 80 caused significant disruptions Saturday, leaving lanes closed in both directions. According to the North Summit Fire Service District, the accident involved a tanker hauling 5,000 gallons of milk.

Firefighters had to extricate the single occupant of the semi from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a trauma center in Ogden for treatment. The specifics of the driver’s condition have not been released.

Initially, the accident resulted in the closure of all lanes in both directions.

The Summit County Health Department was on the scene, overseeing the cleanup of the milk spill. At this time, there are no reports of environmental hazards or further incidents related to the spill.
