Park City Girls finish second in the state for high school lacrosse

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Utah High School State Lacrosse Championships was won by the girls of the Olympus High School Titans, while the Park City Miners took second place in the tournament, which ended on Thursday, May 23, at Salt Lake City’s Zions Bank Stadium with a score of 9 – 6.

The Miners entered their playoff run as the number one-ranked 5A team, with Olympus ranked right behind them for the season.

The game saw the Miners get three points in the first half to the Titans’ five, and then the Miners repeated their performance with three goals in the second half. However, the Titans sealed the deal with their four points for the half.

Even though the national average is only 12 and 6, respectively, Park City Senior Sophie Neff scored 50 goals this season and 36 assists. She’s one of four seniors for which this was their final high school game.

“Our four fantastic seniors have been with the team for all four years; they’re a phenomenal group,” head coach Mikki Clayton told TownLift earlier in the playoffs. “They bleed Park City lacrosse. I really can’t say enough good things about them. They’re the spirit of the team, they inspire their teammates, they motivate their teammates, and they’re just real leaders, through and through.”
