LONDON, England — Sara Sergent, co-owner and Master Distiller of Alpine Distilling in Utah, was inducted into the Gin Guild during its 12th Annual Gin Industry Dinner 2024 in London on May 2. This marks only the second time a woman from the U.S. has been inducted into the Gin Guild. According to a news release, Sergent is the most decorated botanical distiller in the country, with more than 2,400 custom gins created.

“It is a tremendous honor to join the esteemed Gin Guild, and I am humbled to be among the global leaders who are excelling in every facet of the gin industry,” said Sergent. “I am proud to represent the United States, Utah, and our exceptionally talented team at Alpine Distilling, and I look forward to expanding across the pond with our gin and botanical spirits.”

The Gin Guild was founded in 1638 as a trade association representing the distilling industry in London. The organization’s primary objective is to protect, promote, and invigorate the distillation of quality “London” Gin in the UK and worldwide.

The Gin Industry Annual Dinner, held annually, brings together leading figures from the gin industry to share their experiences and promote the responsible development of the gin industry. The selection process for Sergent’s induction was led by David T. Smith, a gin specialist and spirits writer, and Bombay Sapphire’s Master Distiller, Dr. Anne Brock, The Gin Guild’s Grand Rectifier.
