Summit County singer makes into ‘American Idol’ top 20

Kaibrienne Richins overcomes onstage stumbles to shine in American Idol's Top 20

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The top 20 finalists on American Idol were revealed last night, and Henefer’s own Kaibrienne Richins secured a spot. In a three-hour episode, viewers finally had a critical role in determining the contestants’ fate.

Richins, known affectionately as “KB” in earlier stages of the competition, performed her song “girl I am now,” an introspective piece reflecting on her growth and journey. Despite a couple of mishaps during her performance, Richins showed a vulnerable, resilient, and authentic side of herself that seemed to resonate with both the audience and the judges.

This round of eliminations was the result of nearly 30 million votes cast by viewers. With the top 20 now set, the competition intensifies as the contestants prepare for another performance round. The top 14 will announced live on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. MDT.
