National Ability Center’s Moab satellite office gears up for action-packed summer season
MOAB, Utah — Most people who live in and visit Park City are familiar with the National Ability Center (NAC)’s two offices, one located at the Park City Mountain Resort and the other at the Round Valley Ranch. Its perhaps lesser known third location, in Moab, Utah, is ready for another season where they cater to people with or without disabilities in all things involving summer fun.
For decades, the NAC has specialized in year-round activities throughout the state of Utah and beyond not only its borders but the USA’s borders. NAC staff, volunteers, and athletes have traveled to South East Asia to distribute wheelchairs. prosthetics, crutches, and canes to those in need.
They specialize in working with people with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Closer to home, Moab, serves as a jumping off point for outdoor adventures, which range from relaxing and heart-healing to exhilarating and heart-pounding. Steps from Main Street, their unassuming office building and equipment storage space often gets, one, two, three knocks from the UPS Drivers before they drop off a package, knowing the dedicated staff may just be out on the river, or trail, or road living non-traditional office hours.
Southern Utah NAC experiences on the schedule for the upcoming spring, summer, and fall include but are not limited to:
Experiences for military and veterans, including families and groups; all-inclusive adventure camping trips; class I, class II, class III, and class IV rafting:
- Desolation Canyon 6 days/5 nights
- Ruby/Horsethief and Westwater 4 days/3 nights
- Ruby Horsethief 3 days/2 nights
- Labarynth Canyon 5 days/4 nights
- Weswater Canyon 2 days/1 night
- Fisher Towers 2 days/1 night
- Fisher Towers daytrip
- Mens military raft retreat
- Slickrock Moab Mountainbiking
- Military Moab hiking
The NAC teams up with SPLORE (Special Populations Learning Outdoor Recreation and Education) a national organization with its Utah branch based in Salt Lake City.
